An eventful few weeks
Well doesn't time fly... I was going to make an entry about my last jaunt around the UK, which was 2 weeks ago now... but somewhere in-between I didn't get to it. Now it's nearly 5am and I can't sleep. Seems like a perfect time.Pinged around from Liverpool to Preston, then to Keele, Worchester and then Cambridge. Visiting family first then friends. Cambridge was a lovely place to visit; had a good wander around King's College. I would have listened to the singing in the chapel, but the queue was massive. I love being shown around places by people that know them, I think I get to see a more real side to a place than an average tourist. Didn't think to take my camera, d'oh! Was going to Norwich but didn't quite make it; that will have to wait for the next time.
Coming home I found I had a job offer which was very promising and filled with interesting things. Cutting a boring 2 week story of negotiating and difficult decision making short, I'm keeping my current job with a much improved remuneration package. Wahoo! Which rather helped with the news that I needed a new rear offside brake disc, and some pads. Fortunately this was done on Friday and thankfully the good weather lasted all weekend.
Last weekend kind of... vanished... thanks to the persuasion of AfroOfDoom I started on a 7-day trial of PlanetSide, the massive online FPS. I spent the whole 2 days glued to my computer. I've not lost that much time to a computer game since FreeLancer. Though as the week went on the novelty wore off. I don't think I'll be getting a subscription; the pay monthly concept just doesn't sit right with me.
Conversely this weekend was spent mostly outside, zooming around the island's roads. Went for a drive with Juan, briefly stopping at Baldwin Reservoir for some pics, where apparently no reservoir dogs are allowed. Had pub lunch, and on to the Laxey blues festival, which was toe-tapping-tastic! The island is starting to buzz now that TT week is coming. Sunday wasn't quiet so exciting: More driving and shopping for a new fridge. It arrives Tuesday. Oh I can't wait! (p.s. this is sarcasm)
